They sell them like that for a reason...
They are ran on MANY t-buckets today that way..
I have seen plenty with real bad tire wear. But they "work" it would have to handle better with it proper. I have never driven a car without it before but it sure seems like those tires wanting to go in opposite directions thru every corner would be noticeable.

The thing is all it takes is steering arms that are designed for the front wouldn't it? As I said, I have never done it but I have seen the steering arms that go out towards the wheels more (with those discs there's plenty of room) and they just bolt on like those so I would think they could simply be used instead?
