building my new 350
ok i just bought crate engine from jegs the chevy 350/290 to replace my old tired engine i want a rought shoppy idle for my truck. the truck is a 1979 gmc classic sierra. it weights around 5300 pounds with me in it. i'm have 13 inches of life bushwacker fender flares and i chanced the front clip to an 1987.i currently have all the parts and it going for paint soon i all i need is the engine to put in when it come back. oh yea i'm putting on 44 tsl super swamper on 15x12 mickey thompson rims. what i want to know is how to make my crate motor to have a rought choppy idle i dont plan on wheeling it either. all the help would be great. i have been thinking of 2.02 camel pump heads and a com cam 286h i want it to sound evil

Are you looking for performance or just the sound? The 270h sounds good too and will be better for a off-road vehicle such as yours. Its not as choppy as the 286H but you won't have to go with the super low gears to make use of its power range.

With a 290hp 350 and a cam installed just for the rough idle isn't going to have a lot of go in a 5300 lb truck with super heavy 44" tires. If you want go drop in a 454 or put a supercharger on that 350. |

Why don`t I believe you? You bought a stock 350, added heads and a cam and your making over 500 horses? bull. The whole combo must work together to make power. You don`t need torque? I hate to be the one to tell you torque is what moves the vehicle not horsepower. Show us the dyno sheet along with proof you added more than just a cam and heads. And by the way, carter don`t make cams, they make carbs and fuel pumps. Hate to be the one that takes a leak in your cornflakes but get real.

OK, that's funnny. There is no way that's a 500HP motor, no fkn way. My gut tells me I know who this is. Someone that's been stalking me around the internet, but I hold out that I can be wrong.....sounds like something he'd say. Probably a troll post. This is the stuff of internet legends. The next post is "I know a guy with XXXXXX intake, cam, carb, heads, lug nuts, (your choice) and he made 500HP with a 350"......the next post somewhere will be you need those parts to make big power......ahhhhh the interweb. The dyno was probably rigged. Last edited by Jsup; 01-31-2009 at 06:41 PM. |
