Like the title says I need a 700R4 4L60E guru genius! What I want to do is see if there is any way that I can swap enough internals or cases or what ever from a 700R4 into a C5 Corvette trans-axle. I want to mount a small block chevy directly to the C5 Corvette trans-axle to make a drive train for a trike. There is a bright young fellow that is doing just this but he using the 4l60E and he is going to use an after market computer controller Building a V8 Trike Motorcycle. If possible I would like to stay away from all computers on this set up. It doesn't have to be a 700R4 it could be any other of the GM family of transmissions. I read somewhere that a power glide had the same output shaft as the shaft on the C5 Corvette trans-axle 4l60E
Well the information that I have about the 4160 is that it can't be converted to manual. It doesn't have a valve body like the older transmissions, instead it uses solenoids operated by the computer.
transgo makes the kit. It would be manual shift only though, i believe. I don't know too much about it, just looked into it a bit for my 4l80e. I use a pcs controller but I definitely understand the appeal of no computers.
AWESOME! I just got off the phone with David at Transgo and you are correct, they do make a manual kit. The only thing is that you have to manually shift it but that would be great for a trike. I would probably hook it up to a left foot lever. Thanks for the info! Now to get started on my project.
I am considering a trike with a late model GTO independent rear. The Vette idea will work also. Either way fabricating is required. Call any of the good after market tranny builders and they will point you in the right direction.
If using a set up like the GTO rearend I wouldn't hook it up to the transmission yoke to yoke. I would use one of these with a transmission slip yoke on the other end. Any driveline service shop could make one for you.
