Building A v8 Go kart ?

Hi, This is just a kinda crazy Idea that I had and that was putting a v8 with a transmission, and the rearend of a car on a fairly small body, I really have no clue on how to do it but, I have Ideas on the body of it, This is an example, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d52aI6XIpNw, Except I dont want to be in the very front of the thing, Id rather be on top of the tranny almost in the middle of it, My Idea which might be hard to explain Is kind of a X frame with the motor and tranny in the very middle, Looking for any suggestions on it at all, basicaly I want that dudes but want to be over the motor and tranny.
Another example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_mPNnzCilQ&NR=1
Thanks And another http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpqwD...eature=related

I think this go kart would be a little more like a go kart than one with a V8

How about a Hossfly? Stacey David built one on Gearz a while back.

A v8 Gokart ?

Yeah But thats a rice burner motor which I dont have lol, I have a V8 and A tranny And this sounds like it could be fairly cheap to build, And I was planning on Eventually making it street legal, I was going to build the roll cage and Put Plexi Glass in it, lights, blinkers, Blinker Fluid lol jk, Turn signals The whole nine yards and make it street legal, Im debating on putting like a 3.73 or a real low gear for monsterous speed down the highways ?. But then comes the Safety of the vehicle which is in the Negatives and 0 safety rating, So a real high torquey gear would be cool and Even A real high gear like a 4.10 could prolly get it going pretty fast to ?, The Rear axle and Front axle will be the main supporters of the weight, The frame would all connect to the axles, the front axle will have to be made and designed strong enough the hold that kind of weight. The frame would be built of 2 to 3 in black heat treating tubing which I heard was very strong, Or if you have any suggestions on Any other kind of tubular frame that would be cheaper and stronger please tell me lol.

Ya know, I've had this same thought - except my idea was to stick to a V6 with a manual trans (everything sourced from the junkyard, of course - engine, trans, rear axle, front suspension, seat, etc). I haven't got past the dreaming stage, but ideas that stuck:

Tube frame chassis/cage setup. Best way to describe what I was thinking about would be the Ariel Atom - that frame style is real close to what I was thinking about, except not as rounded as I was envisioning. The body panels would be flat sheet that would get bolted in the triangle-shaped sections, and the front suspension would be something pulled from a small car - definitely independent. Ultimate goal was to make it small enough so that I could just drive it in and out of a full-size truck bed.

It's probably just a pipe dream for me, but maybe that'll give you some ideas.

Building A V8 Go kart

Forget about the frame building I got one excellent Idea, I have a 1979 Monte Carlo that I could just strip the body of and cut the drive shaft out scoot the rearend ( with torching ) To the tranny, pretty much the idea is to cut the middle out of the car and reweld the two together and i have Seats that I could modify to sit Right Above The tranny and have a shifter between your legs And two other Seats On the Rear Axle, I like this idea cause you get all of the motor mounts, the front shocks unfortunately no rear shocks Bascially its a 1500 pound Go kart that had 3 Seats and Had a 450 Horse 350 with a th 350 tranny, I would have to Modify A Steering Column and Do alot of Modify for seats, If all goes well I will have Sleets of steel to cover uip the holes in the frame, Thanks
