The last engine GM made with dome top pistons was the LT-1 in the early 70`s, a 78 work truck had 9:1 compression at it`s highest and was not a performance engine. I don`t know where you got your info but it`s not accurate.
It`s not gonna run long with 12:1 compression on 93 octane gas with that short a cam, it`s gonna detonate itself to death or you`ll have to set the timing so low it`ll be a dog.

You need a bigger cam. I am running a 243degree at .050 and only running 10.5:1 compression because of stock heads. Mine is 12:1 domes and .470 lift

Why are you running 12:1? Your going to have a mild motor that needs race gas....that makes no sense man. Drop your compression to 10:1 and run pump gas.
