is this a bunch of BS?

do they have anything that disrupts your ignition? something causing a misfire, that makes you loose the race. cant clicking a highpower CB interfere with a coils output? anyways this kid with a import claims to use one. i was thinking that wires are shielded from radio interference, would it work on a solid core design? or at all? fact or s**t

Electromagnetic Pulse weaponry is out there. Look here...
http://www.eskimo.com/~bilb/freenrg/empweap.html

I know they used it a lot in the Matrix movies...

My question would be what keeps it from killing his ignition also...

Smack that ricer upside the head! Its just some BS he is making up, they really do have them but I seriously doubt any kid would have one in their car.
It sounds more like he is just making excuses for not have a v8 in his car. Typical ricer
Besides, if he did have something like that, what keeps it from hurting his ignition in the race anyway?

The ricer is full of BS. Additionally, operating such a transmitter would require special licensing from the FCC beyond a General Operator's license.

The device is known as a plutonium bomb. The electromagnetic pluse on detonation will disable any ignition within miles. The infared pulse that comes shortly after makes a non-running car the least of your problems.

This is something that has been researched extensively, but I've not heard of it actually being implemented. About 5 years ago research was started on a "sled" of sorts that a police car would launch out under a car it was pursuing. The sled would emit an electromagnetic pulse upward into the car and hopefully disrupt the ignition or blow a fuse, or otherwise make the car inoperable long enough to stop the chase.

There was something similar use in fast and the furious. The police shot a thing into the side of a car and it took out all the computer and ignition in the car. Of course these were cars that were faster with stickers to.
But I dont doubt that there is such a thing that could shut down your ignition. It just that a kid with an import is very unlikely to have one.

yeah, if I remember correctly they were having problems with it being too inaccurate or clumsy to use efficiently. They're probably super expensive units, too.

Id rather spend all that money on parts for the car to win the race instead of spending it on something like that and cheating to win a race. Besides, when was the last time a ignition disabling device helped you smoke your tires anyway?

yup, I have heard something similar to this as well, only if I remember right they had it in a helicopter and they could "shoot" the "bad guys" car with this thing and it would disable the computer...
