The Butt Kickings keep coming
Well, I was working on tuning the Megsquirt AVR yesterday. I was making some headway, but noticed that the engine did not want to start when warm. I noticed fuel pressure was at 60plus pounds....not good disk injectors no worky to good like that. Looks like the regulator somehow closed and quit bypassing. Guess what this means? Fuel pump is cooled by constant fuel flow......no flow no pumpy no more. DAAAAMMMMMITTT!!! The fuel pump is toast. It sounded like a wheezy old man for a bit an then just croaked. Have you guys priced any high flow EFI fuel pumps lately? I managed to find a Holley 67 GPH that will work for $160. All the others were in the $300 range. I swear I need to start keeping vasaline handy when I walk out to the shop for my daily screwing by the S-10. I can only imagine when I get it on the road.....

Don't sweat it Chris, you learn as you go, so in the end, you've remembered EVERYTHING that went wrong. Just don't do it again. MoocH |

Nah nothing you did at all. Rule #4026 of Hotrodding states that "Nothing works quite like it's SUPPOSED to. . . . EVER."
I like Rule #300 "It's ok to test fuel pressure with an in-line guage, NOT your mouth." Just don't get discouraged. That beast WANTS to work like you want it to. You just have to convince it to. MoocH |
