Buying in Bulk
I am in the process of doing the interior in my 1980 El Camino and 1968 Lincoln Continental and wanting to buy Dynamat or something very similar but in bulk for a cheaper cost since I have quite a bit to do and want to completely cover everything inside. Also I would like to get something like 3M's Q-Pads. Any idea if there is a way to save and buy this stuff in bulk somewhere? If so then any links to the sites or info would be greatly appreciated! I have the interior out of both and ready to start putting it into the El Camino at the moment.
Thanks a lot for any info!

I think DynaMat makes a kit that has enough material to do one car. With what you want to do that should be more than enough.

I think if you do a search for dynamat you'll find discussions on cheaper alternatives.

Check out Dynamat prices on E-Bay. They seem to be much lower there.

Thanks for the info guys! The kit that Dynamat has does do a whole car but my problem is is that I have two to do right now and then one more right after these two.
I thought about the cheap alternatives like Peel and Stick and then the bubble insulation wrap they use on hot water heaters but I do not want to use that stuff. IMO it was meant to be on a house for a reason. I have used the Peel and Stick before and it did fine but it's a tar based product unlike 3M Q-Pads and Dynamat.
DanTwoLakes, what do you think about buying double sided foil jute by the yardage?, and a few other online places have it for about $16 and some change for a 48" wide yard of it to insulate and I guess it will help sound deaden. I am not set on Dynamat brand by any means, just something that I can completely cover the inside of the doors, the floors, firewall, etc. I guess the stick type pads (peel and stick or 3M Q-Pads) just need to be done in sections to get the tinny sound out. I am guessing the 3M Q-Pads are fine/best for this?

Thanks again guys! I have been reading quite a bit of threads here and learning a lot. I love doing the interior stuff and always wanted to learn so I guess now is my chance. I've installed insulation and carpets before but never really touched sewing/stitching and things of that sort.

BTW, I also was looking at Sound Deadener Showdown products. Anyone have anything to say about them? I have read the forums here and hear all sorts of mixed opinions when it comes to Dynamat, Fatmat, KoolIt, Sound Deadener Showdown products, etc. Right now for me it's between Fat Mat and doing my last coat of POR-15 with Wick's Micro Balloons or POR-15 and Sound Deadener Showdown products.
Preferences anyone?

O.K. To answer your question, ANYTHING you put in/on the vehicle to reduce noise, heat, and vibration will be an improvement over nothing. I personally believe that you don't have to buy an expensive product to accomplish this. Probably the biggest bargain of the bunch is Thermozite, and probably the most over-rated product is Dynamat. You need to know that these products are intended to dampen sound. They are intended to make a car audio system sound better inside the car, and anything beyond that is just gravy. Put in whatever you can afford to quiet your car down. My only recommendations are to put the thinnest product you can find on the floor of the vehicle under whatever you prefer for carpet padding and any other places where space is at a premium. Beyond that, anything you do will be an improvement. These are just my own opinions. If you believe that there's more to it than what I just described, by all means buy whatever you want and use it.
