i know for a fact in texas, the man don't care if you just bought it, you better have it insured or he'll write you a ticket. if you don't make him mad, he might let you slide on the plates/registration.... if your buying it from a dealer, you'll have to get insurance before they'll do the title transfer,registration,etc,etc.... and that's even paying cash..... now, if you were going to trailer it home, it might be another story....

congratulations!!!

what kind of truck?

What Larry says..................although it goes state by state.................I bet Michigan is one of the stricter ones.

It would be best to check with the laws in your state.

In Iowa you can drive for thirty days with no plates but you have to have proof of ownership with you. Your vehicle is also covered by your insurance for the thirty day period but that is if you already have insurance on another vehicle and it is a good idea to carry proof of insurance with you on that other vehicle. I have bought and driven many vehicles without plates and been stopped in almost every one of them and some officers will ask for the proof of insurance an another vehicle.

i was suprised... a freind of me sent me a link... you get 3 days that it doesnt need to be registered or insured to drive it home.... but you have to take the most direct route... But you have to have the signed title with you if you get pulled over... an dits a 1991 chevy stepside... i know not a hot rod but its a vechile...

depends on if you know the cop or not, I was at the paint store the other day and a cop who was the freind of the owners walked in, and was talking to another guy he knew. when the guy he left that was just picking up some primer, the car he was driving had no plates or registration sticker/ inspection sticker in the window

what it is that in that 3 day period of driving on a direct route is that the insurance that you have on your other vehicle already is automaticly on that one for that short time period..been there & done that & got hit by someone on way home from picking up a car i bought..law told me i was automaticly insured by my already existing insurance agent on my other vehicles..here in Ga we dont even need tags for 30 days as long you get insurance

yes, as a matter of fact, you are allowed to do that in michigan. You need a receipt of purchase and you're allowed to drive the vehicle only back to your residence.
