C-4 over reving into 3rd

I have a 500hp+ 408w with a C-4 trans. The transmission started over reving when going into 3rd gear and slowly gets worse over time. It does this real bad when cold. After it warms up, its not as bad. I then adjusted the front band on the transmission and it fixed the problem, but now its doing it again. Should I just keep adjusting the band or should i over tighten it? How many times can i do this before it go's bad?
