If you pull the converter out fully, there is fluid that will run out if the trans was in recent use.

If you can use a straight edge tool to check how deep the converter is back from the front of the bell housing to see if there is room for the flexplate to fit.
Dont worry how old you are... it is the mileage on your body that adds up.
