C$ Compatability

I have a chance to get a working Ford C4 Automatic from a '69 Mustang. It is bolted behind a 200 6 cylinder now. Will this thing bolt up to my '85 302? Is it physically the same inside as a C4 from a V8 application?

I don't want to buy it if it won't fit or hold up to the 302.

Thanks Mike

For all intents - the same. You do need the correct bell housing for your engine/flex plate/starter for the V8.

I would go through it first - it's a fairly easy transmission to do a clutch plate upgrade, replace a band and some seals and do a valve body mod for better shifting plus the usual filter change

Hmm I think the 200 Eingine is worth more than the C$

look online in Classic in-line engine performance they buy 200 parts dampers, rocker arm assembly’s etc and pay pretty good.

He has a V8 and wants to buy a 6cyl C4.. He doesent have the engine..

Mike does buy good parts from time to time, But I don't believe he buys all the time, nor does he advertise it.. Good guy tho

If it is an original C4, the clutch packs will have fewer clutches than the normal V8 C4. Other than that they are essentially the same.
