C6 F250 4x4

I've been having problems with the tranny not shifting into gear in my 79 F250. If it did go into gear it would kick back out when you came to a stop sign, plus it would shift really really late sometimes.

I changed the fluid (cause it was black) and the pan was full of thick nasty sludge. I didn't see any metal lookin stuff in it but it was nasty. I put high milage ATF in.

So it SEEMS to be okay, I haven't went far (no more than 20 feet). I put it into gear and it takes a sec to engage, I held the brake and gave it gas and it burned out (gravel yard). Think I'll make it through the winter? My clutches are prob toast but... Was hoping that it would be a good band aid until I could get a tranny (month maybe two).

I checked the vac hose and it's hooked up.

bandaid

Sounds pretty tired, I recently had problems with my c6 in my 79 Bronco, additives didn't help for very long, so just put a rebuilt in when it started acting up to bad, run it as long as you can, good luck. Have a Happy New Year.

I like your pic, looks like my truck but shiney That's what I'm gonna do. It just has to make it a month or so then I could get a rebuilt one. Had thought about rebuilding mine but I don't have the space because of my million other projects.
