I've got 3 out of 4 rusted cab/frame mounts. Not the bracket on the frame itself but rather the sheetmetal mount that attaches to the floor of the vehicle. The floor was fixed up by the previous owner by welding diamond plate over rusted floor panel so I'm sure I could cut away old rusted sheet metal and weld to the diamond plate.

They make replacement pieces but I think since he just welded over the old rusted floor, it won't line up right.

I am torn between replacing floor (by taking out diamond plate) or just fabricating my own mounts. On one side, I just bought truck and don't want to "frame off" restore it just quite yet so a quick fix would be nice, but on other side, I want to do it right.

Anybody have any pics of fabricated mounts they've used?
Anybody have any opinions?

Best to tell us what vehicle it is. I take it that its the GMC in your picture.

THe channel that the support is made from, would a piece of square tubing fit there?

It's a 1957 GMC 1/2 ton.

I need to get under it again and get rid of some of the old sheet metal. I'm considering a couple options including even swapping out the entire cab for a big back window chev from a better climate.
