caddy motor

we are putting a 500 c.i. into a 85 el camino what is the weight of the motor?

A caddy with an aluminum intake only weighs a couple more pounds than an SBC with an iron intake. Don't let the weight fool you, its a large puppy. Plan on some very minor surgery; maybe a different brake booster and plan on some headers. The stock manifolds are a bit intrusive. I was able to fit my 500 in a 66 Bonneville with some grinding to the manifold but its a big engine.

There are several guys who have done the 500 swap into an A/G-body. Do a google for cadillac forums and you'll turn up several including cowboyseven, MTS, cadillac owners. You'll find a bunch of 500s in Elkys.
