Cadillac 390 cam question

What is the most radical cam you can run in a 390 Caddy while still using the stock rockers, pushrods, and lifters? I want something with a lumpy idle. preferably one I can buy without having to get a custom grind

Call Marty Lane at Maximum Torque Specialties, they mainly deal in the 425/472/500 Cads but I'm sure he can give you the scoop on which cam to use. You do know that the cam you choose has to fit the combination of your 390 ie. compression, valve springs etc. A big stompin max duration cam in any stock engine = a slug......1(760) 247-2533

I just want something with a lopy idle something that would sound mabe like a comp cams thumper----not real radical. These motors don't have adjustable rockers or pushrods--if you go too much cam you have to use adjustable pushrods,or Studebaker rockers (and I have a set) but if you use them then have to have special valve covers---would rather stay with stock valve train, just have a little lopy idle
