cadillac doors
I have a question,...Does anyone know what the length of the doors from a 1954 Cadillac 2 door? I was thinking of turning my 4 door into a 2 door, and need to know if the doors from the coupes are longer than the sedans.

I don't know the dimension you ask for. But I can tell you that the 2 door doors are longer than the 4 door doors. That is to facilitate entry to the rear seat. Just look at a pic of the cars. The series 62 wheelbase is the same 2 or 4 door. Front end is the same so they have to fit 2 doors in the same space as one from the cowl to the rear wheel.
Filling in the rear door and using the front door on a 4 door would look odd IMO. You'll be needing the coupe doors and the ability to move the rear jamb back a good distance. Larry |

I can't help with the length at all. If you could find a set of good (2 door) doors it might not be as hard to do.
Chip Foose turned a 4 door into a 2 door in one of the early episodes of "Overhaulin". You might look for that website and see if it gives you some ideas of how it was done. I think (bad memory) they used the original doors (stretched them) and used new door skins. |

Foose did it w/ a '56 Chevy 4dr and turned it into a 2dr roadster. used '56 2dr Hard top doors..
if you were good enough, you could lengthen the doors you got.. for a '54 caddie, your prolly gonna have to buy the whole car to get 2dr dr's because only 4dr's would be useful for parts, for the demand there is on '54 caddie's, the demand has to be on 2dr's.. so why go thru the trouble... just find a '54 2dr |
