Cadillac Restoration Question

I have a general question about restoring old cars, specifically my 1956 Cadillac Coupe De Ville. I would like to add some non-original options to my car (disc breaks, dual master cylinder, etc.) to make it a little safer to drive. My question is how much does changing things like that affect the value of a car. Would the car be worth significantly more if I kept the drum brakes and just rebuilt them? I'm also thinking about spark plug wires, hoses, things like that, nothing that would change the style of the car just things that make life a little easier.

Those changes will increase the value to the common person. only if you were going in for a concourse restoration, would it matter that the drum brakes were not there.. if you didn't have original type plug wires, that could cut the value if you wanted a restoration but your radio will sound better.

It's your car and your money. Do with it what you want to. If you're concerned about resale, store everything you take off in labeled boxes so the car can be put back to stock if that's what the next owner wants.
