Calling all Ford GURU's!!!!!!!!!!!!
My grandfather has an old 1956 Ford Fairlane out on his property.
I know its a Fairlane but it has an emblem on the side that says "Thunderbird" it also has thunderbird painted on the valve covers. It was my great grandmothers car, and my GF doesn't really know much about it. I have tried to search the internet, but can't find any info about this model. How can I find more info on the car. ie. with the VIN and so on. Does anyone know about this particular model? Can someone point me down the correct research path? |

There was a very rare 56 Thunderbird (only 2 built) that was factory built with shortened 56 Fairlane side trim that was never available to the public but built as an early experimental unit (before production run). Not aware of a fairlane w/ tbird trim though. Try the classic ford forums?

Quote:
The fender emblem designates the engine as either a 292 or 312, the TBIRD engines for that year. They were available in the FORD line as performance options. If it has a THUNDERBIRD decal on the rocker cover, it designates it as a 292. If the decal reads THUNDERBIRD SPECIAL, it is a 312. The 223 six or 272 V8 was the base engine. |

Good God Man!!!! Doesn't anyone do any kind of search before they ask questions?
Does it look like this? ![]() Or this? ![]() Here is a site that you can get the VIN decoded for the car in question for a small fee VIN INFO If you are that serious about finding out the info on the car....it would be worth paying the fee. Here is where I usually start looking for info at. Later, WEIMER |
