Post calling all transmisson gurus

i have a 66 ford f100 it has a 3 speed i need to know how to tell what kind it is and if i can get a bell housing for it to fit a 350 chevy eng any help is appreciated

I don't know the answer to your question, but unless it is a HD truck trans, it probably would not reliably handle the chev 350. Even the better 4 speeds don't handle a well built 350.

I have no clue as to fitting a chevy engine but I had a 68 Cougar with a pretty beatable 302 in her and a 3-speed manual that never gave up. Also seen some pretty tough toploader 4-speeds. Had a 71 Vega with a 350 LT-1 engine, M-22 4spd trans, and a 12-bolt rear. Ran that 4spd hard through high 12's down the quarter mile strip. Ran what used to be Heavy Street (12.00 to 13.99), don't know if brackets are still the same. It's been years. Don't really see what the big difference is between a stock 302 and a stock 350. And if you're building a top fuel 350 engine you could do just as much damage with a top fuel 302.

the 350 is putting out around 400hp the three speed is only temporary till i find a 4 speed or maybe a six if money ever permits
