I have no clue as to fitting a chevy engine but I had a 68 Cougar with a pretty beatable 302 in her and a 3-speed manual that never gave up. Also seen some pretty tough toploader 4-speeds. Had a 71 Vega with a 350 LT-1 engine, M-22 4spd trans, and a 12-bolt rear. Ran that 4spd hard through high 12's down the quarter mile strip. Ran what used to be Heavy Street (12.00 to 13.99), don't know if brackets are still the same. It's been years. Don't really see what the big difference is between a stock 302 and a stock 350. And if you're building a top fuel 350 engine you could do just as much damage with a top fuel 302.
