Cam bearings 350 chev, cam wont fit in front bearing????

I'm rebuilding my engine 350 chev. Everything is ready to be put back together.
I ordered cam bearings from Jeg's which stated 350 sbc cam bearings. The bearings arrived, the guy building my engine couldn't fit the cam. They were 327 small journal bearings. I have a comp cam 12-242-2. The engine code is #14016379.
The guy building my engine has bought 2 more sets. And every time, the front bearing which is the last the cam fits into. Well it won't fit. Are we missing something here. Does anyone have any advice. I called comp cams they said should slide right in. do people use 400 bearings in a small block? I'm at a lose.

Any help or insight would be appreciated.

Did you check another cam to see if it is the cam or the bearings? Very unlikely but not impossible to have a defective camshaft.

Take the cam and start to install it backwards and see if the front journal will go into the first cam bearing. If it does, take the cam to the back of the motor and see if the last journal will go into the last bearing.
I have run into some blocks that physically crush the inside diameter of the bearing because their bores are too tight, also you can mike the journals on the cam and compare the sizes of each individual cam bearing, their sizes (ID & OD) are listed in the bearing book.
When I build a motor, the very first thing that I do is install the camshaft, especially on 440 chryslers.
All 327's and 350's and 400 small blocks have the same cam bearings.

We see one in every 35 to 50 blocks where the cam tunnels are machined wrong and we blue print bore them to .010 to .020 over to get them where they are suppose to be.

Maybe thats why they make .040 over cam bearings for the SBC's.

Measure the bore it should be 2.019 to2.021 and round

Are you describing the bearing shell won't fit the bore in the block, or the bearing won't allow the cam journal to pass?
