Cam explanations.

Ok Im looking for some cam info. You guys seem like an intelligent bunch to come too lol. Anyways Im working on the desktop dyno down near the bottom for the cam it says IVO {BTDC}, IVC {ABDC}, EVO {BBDC}and EVC {ATDC}. What do these mean? Are they part of the cam lobes? Lobe separation? Cams are mildly confusing lol. Right now I only really understand lift, duration and lsa. But I dont really even understand those, I can only squeeze by. Any help on this topic or maybe some reading materiel would be appreciated. In the meantime Ill be googling lol.

Thanks Steve

IVO is Intake Valve Open in degrees Before Top Dead Center (BTDC). This of course is an assumption that the cam you're using opens the intake before top center, many emissions grinds open the intake valve After Top Dead Center.

IVC is Intake Valve Close in degrees After Bottom Dead Center (ABDC).

EVO is Exhaust Valve Open in degrees Before Bottom Dead Center (BBDC).

EVC is Exhaust Valve Closed in degrees After Top Dead Center (ATDC). A couple notes; the degrees ATDC added to the degrees of the intake opening (BTDC) are the degrees of overlap. The other note is that again with emissions compliant cams the exhaust valve may close before TDC.

Ok that was exactly the info I was looking for! Thanks! So if I understand this correctly these numbers would determine the profile of the cam lobes? So Im assumeing that if I were to send lsa, lift, IVO, IVC, EVO and EVC all too comp cams or some company of the like they could have a cam custom ground for me with all of those factors that I specified?

Thanks Steve
