cam and heads?

Can anyone recomend a kick butt matching head a cam and what intake to use for a older 302 block with a 347 stroker kit. I'm pushing for 375- 400 horse. I was thinking maybe the trick flow twisted heads. What do you guys think? And also what would you recomend for tracton to get a good hook-up? It's going in a ford falcon 64

AFR CNC ported 285cc heads would be your best bet. I would go with something along the lines of a Comp Cams 294H cam (244 244 @.050 .518 .518 lift) This with a good intake (performer RPM or victor JR) would easily get you at least 400 hp, probably closer to 450.

Adam

look at AFRs dyno tested motors:

Your are right, my mistake.

You are right about the 185cc, not 285.

285ccs. Man, those wouldn't start working untill 12,000 RPMs.

That cam mentioned above is awful small if your looking for a lot of hp. Remeber they were using the Cleveland style head on a 302. That was the stock Boss 302. Small block Fords like more airflow.

Regardless of which head you decide on (I'm partial to the AFR stuff), if you are building a serious high performance engine, I would consider getting a custom ground cam. There are a few guys around who do VERY good custom spec's designed specifically for your individual application.

I had Buddy Rawls spec mine and I wouldn't hesitate to use him again or to recommend his services.

Here's his web page: http://www.wighat.com/fcr3/camtruth.htm

Another guy with a big rep is Ed Curtis of Flow Tech Induction.

Something to think about, if you want optimum performance of whatever you put together.

Have a plan and have fun!
