welcome....if you want it to sound like a tap dancer, back off the rocker nuts....the clacking will drive you crazy.......

Seriouslly, don't know what you mean by that. I will move this to the engine forum...you should get your answer there.

your looking for that high velocity v8 rythme. like the glossy cars at the drive ins have. kind of a bubble not a rumpty rump.

keep your build mild, with lower spring pressures. nice headers and a queiter turbo muffler. something like the dynomax super turbo.

Here's a good performing, nice running, basic
lower cost build:

modified oem Vortec heads for higher lift
available i.e. Scroggin Dickey Chev, Sallee Chev, etc

Performer RPM intake (Edelbrock - dual plane)

Comp Cams HE 262 flat tappet hydraulic cam

full length, small tube headers

Look thru these builds, you'll see there's a vast
difference between some combos, especially
between brands of heads, and cams.
There's a bunch of pages, check them all.

I believe what your looking for is something around a 224 @ 50 of duration or more. The Edelbrock RPM cam would be the raggid edge of a street cam which has a killer idle. Hope this helps
