Cam info

Why do they reverse grind or custom grind cams do they work as well as a regular one.
I have a comp cam the lift is 488/465 in a 383 stroker.

They reverse grind them so that you can use a two gear drive rather than a chain or idler gear. It's a good idea but overkill for most street cars. A custom grind is exactly that you call the camgrinder and give him your specs and he grinds it to order. Great if you know what your doing otherwise...

You might have a two-motor marine application also, where you want one of the motors to turn counter-clockwise. That would also require grinding the cam in reverse.
