Pistons? Heads? Static C/R? Rear gears? Intended use?

vortec heads are pretty affordable and flow well.

Duration is how long the valves are held open. Lift is how much.

The more duration the higher the torque band is shifted and poor idle(lumpy). Less makes for more low end torque and smoother idle. It is give and take.

You need to decide what you are using it for and what rpm the engine will be operating. If you have highway gears and an over drive transmission you might cruise at 1800rpm. with 4.10's and no OD you might be at 3500 down the highway.
