cam options and questions

hi everyone. i hope your week is faring well.

in a few weeks, ill be tearing down and rebuilding the 267 in my 79 Malibu. its going to be a stock rebuild but im using a set of heads with slightly smaller combustion chambers and bigger valves(416s). there may be some mild backyard porting and polishing, but nothing drastic. also ill be checking piston and rod weights and matching those if needed. ill also be adding a Power Plus dual plane intake and Quadrajet 4 barrel.

i have a Lunati Bracket Master II cam (00016LK). how would this cam fare in a stock 267 ? my ultimate goal is either bumping torque numbers up to around a wishful 300 (stock is 215) or obtaining a slight increase in torque while moving the peak power range up in RPMs.

could someone here help me or shall i call a friendly cam company ?

Thanks In Advance
Dale

You will need minimum 9.5:1 compression and maybe a tad higher for that cam to really run. 300 ft/lbs sounds rather optimistic unless you realli port those heads good, and they can use it....too much and you'll hurt yourself though. Primarily work in the area under the valve, open the exhaust port and gasket match to the intake.

your advice is noted and appreciated. i doubt i can get compression that high. stock C/R is 8.2:1. i may be lucky to get 9.0:1. so what cam would be a good torque builder for this engine ?
