Cam question
I gots a cam question.
Basically The motor in my Volvo is the motor outta my old monte.
I picked the cam for the monte which was the Xtreme 262.Good for 3500lbs and 3.42 that the monte was/had.
I was eventually wanting to up the cam for the hotrod a bit in the future but not now untill this came up.
Anyways I got a good deal I can get on an unused cam,anti-pump up lifters,springs,locks,retainers,7quart pan,oil pump and a bunch of goodies.
Dirt cheap they were installed in a shortblock that never got heads sat forever and got surface rust was disassembled and parted out.(lifters never installed)
Anyway whats all you oppinion on this cam in my car.
Its an older Crane
296 adv dur
234/242@050
.473/.488 lift
110LSA
My setup is as follows
350 stock shortblock
Iron 1.94s w/ 3 angle grind(no porting)
8.5:1(ugh!)
Performer intake
750 vac holley
1 3/4 primarie headers
2 1/2 exhuast
TH350 2200-2400stall
As for the motor its a torque killer,I know. The heads are too weenie and the converter a hair small and compression too low.
BUT...................the Volvo weights 1970lbs stock weight.
Add a SBC and AUTO and me and I'm fingering 2500lbs tops.
The car has 4.41 gears and 26" tall tires so theres no torque needed to move this thing.
But I plan to swap to a 3.73 12bolt w/ ladder bars in the future as the current rear is weak as shat.So this will oload the lowend down a bit from 4.41s.
So whatcha think in such a light car??Sounds a hair big but OK too me considering the low weight evan with 3.73.
Opinions please.
