cam replacement

on my 87 caprice 5.7L/350 do i need to go with a computer controlled type cam or just a cam for factory roller of that year?joe.

You should be able to go to any autoparts store and order the direct replacement roller cam for it without issue. However, if you wanted to spend more money, the aftermarket offers several OEM roller cams that work in computer controlled engines. Make sure you replace the timing chain with a good unit while your in there.

i have a new timming set already,i'am looking at aftermaket cams for mild performance upgrade.

thanks double vision,i'll look into them. joe.comp cams for computer controlled motors part#cca-08-302-8 at summit looks like what i may be looking for. updated.

what are the specs to the cam, have you looked into changing the heads. you will get minor power increase out of a cam swap but you wont feel the real affect until you change out the heads, i nice set of vortecs would really liven up that motor

i assume, it's factory.the car is stock accept for the headers and trans upgrade.
