Cam selection

Hi everyone,

So Im looking at buying a new cam for my sbc. Mainly because Im doing a rebuild and I recently found out that the cam may just be a stock cam. I also believe that it may be starting to get worn out as the lifters do not seem to have any convexness {is that a word? lol} to them anymore. So because of the very very small amount of money I have left due to the rebuild I am looking at sumit brand cams only. They go for $62.88 with lifters. Here is what my engine is and some links to cams from summit. Any ideas? It will be mainly a street application but I want it to have some power for around the street and I will go to the drag strip occasionally.

350 4 bolt mains.
Stock crank
Stock I beams
I believe stock pistons with 4 valve reliefs
300 hp heads from '69. They will be pocket ported. Casting 370.
GM aluminum high rise intake
Holley 3310 750cfm vac secondaries or a 750 speed demon with vac secondaries, I know those might be a bit big but I have other reasons why Im get one.
Shorty headers not sure measurements maybe... 1 3/4"?
3" exhuast pipe going back to flowmaster
This is all bolted to a 700r4 with shift kit
3.73 rear gears
In a 83 z28 camaro.

Here are some cam ideas, Ill play with them a bit on the desktop dyno at home, what do you guys think?

I would use cam SUM-K1104 and why is due to it`s about big as you can go without a stall converter and it`ll suite the rest of your combo nicely.
The carb is a bit big but will suffice.

Just out of curiosity what would happen if I ran a bit bigger without the stall converter? Also what kind of power potential would I be looking at with that cam and my set up?

Thanks Steve

If I had to put on a converter to run a bigger cam, can it be put on while the engine is in the car? Im assumeing no due to no room to pull it off but Ill ask anyways.

Thanks Steve
