Hi all I am about to do a v-8 s10 conversion for thr first time. I have ordered the radiator, headers, mounts kit. and I already have a posi rear end out of a 1978 z28 I am just running thoughts through my head and was wondering if anyone has done this before? Im sure it will get better traction but I havent even measured it yet to see how much mod. needs to be done.

I would not bet my life on it but if my memory serves me right it is a direct bolt in.

The spring perches, if not in the correct location can be removed and a new pair welded on in the correct location, I say new because of their relatively low cost.

I would definitely check for wheel mounting surface, to wheel mounting surface as it may be quite a bit wider than the S-10 axle, this can be overcome by using wheels with more backspacing.

on spike tvs trucks they used a camaro rearend in ther build and said it was direct bolt in log on to spike and ask them

I have a camaro rear end (1976),and a 1988 S-10 rear end on the rack behind my garage and I can tell you that the camaro rear end is way wider than the S -10,didnt measure them but looks to be 3 or 4 inches wider. The S-10 rear you have is probably as strong as the camaro rear anyway.I ran a stock S-10 3,73 rear end with a built 350 for several years on the street and never broke anything.

I went out back this morning and did some measuring. The camaro(76) rear end measures 7 inches wider than the 88 S-10 rear end. there is no way you could use it under your truck. I measured from backing plate to backing plate.
