I was disassembling a 1977 Camaro subframe for rebuilding before I put it under my '57 Chevy truck. I found two cast aluminum spring pockets about 1" thick between the lower control arms and the springs. Are these factory parts, or were they possibly used to make up for weak springs? I had planned on reusing the springs, but now I my doubts. Any thoughts?

Was the donor car a factory A/C car .. ?
Some GM cars have a 1 inch spacer from the factory to compensate for the added weight of A/C ..

If you don't want those spacers I could really use them. I need to raise the front of my Camaro subframe 1 inch. PM me and we'll talk.

The donor was a factory AC car. The spacers look like horseshoes with a groove for the spring. If they are factory parts, I'm not going to worry about the springs. Free standing, they are the same height, for what that's worth.

I doubt if they're factory parts. More likely aftermarket stuff to compensate for sag, or maybe from an A/C kit. GM used different springs to compensate for extra weight.
