my friend has a 92 camaro 350 with a 5 speed, factory. the 5 speed is bad and needs a replacement. will a 5 speed from an s10 4.3 interchange? or is the shifter in a different location from a camaro?
most of the camaros have the shifter in the same location, but the tranny is angled a bit to the side, S-10 is straight up, the only difference is the bellhouseing and the shifter.
Also the 4cyl and 6cyl trannys are NOT the same as a V8 - the cases are but the insides are not, go to your local tranny shop and see what they can rebuild yours for, you might come out better that way than tearing another out in two months.
A T-5 wasn't used behind the 4.3 in the S-10 trucks. They used a NV3500 that didn't even have a removable bell-housing. The shifter location on the S-10 is also about a foot farther forward than on the Camaro.
the 2 trannys are very different the one out of a 1st gen s10 is what you are talking about. that is a non world class t5, the one in a camaro and mustangs is a world class t5. the world class is far stronger and also the spline count is different between the 2.
i think the s10 is like a 14 or 16 count spline, and the camaro is i think 26(dont quote me havent looked at one in FOREVER)
