camshaft

for a lot of guys this is going to sound like a dumb question. but I am going to ask it anyway. My camshaft is messed up, it won't turn the push rod that pumps the fuel pump. Now can I replace the lobe or does it mean a new camshaft ? And if I do need a camshaft what is a good price for one in Canada?

I really don't know if you can "fix" the cam you have, but I wouldn't mess with that. I'd just get a new cam. I don't know about Canadian money, but if it's nothing racey, and just a regular stock type cam, they run for around $150 in american dollars.

It's a 1984 GMC Jimmy with a 305. I thought of putting in the electric fuel pump but it saves me nothing and I still have a questionable camshaft. so...

wow sure seems alot easier to just put on an electric fuel pump, I doubt the rest of the cam is bad, this is a completely different part of the cam.
