camshaft question?

Throwing around cam idea's is fun, atleast it is for me.Would like to take another stab at it just for fun,was thinkin of goin with something a little different for my 9.3 comp, 350 sb,with SR torqer head's that flo about 76% with 171cc intake runner's to boot. The intake is the Edelbrock peformer EPS,with a 1405# Edelbrock carb. The crank and rod's are ballanced, with speed pro hyper-.030 piston's with .125 dome. Current cam choise was the Lunati 00016# with a .458 lift and .218@50 with a .284 adv dur. With a power range of 1500 to 5200 rpm's.Something about this doesnt jive with me,but cant put my finger on it.I do like the look's of the ex262 comp cam,and the H270 comp cam.My pickup is a 76 gmc 1/2 shortbed @3900 lbs. A 350 tranny, and 3.40 gears. The truck will be a daily driver, sport truck that will do no hauling or pulling.I dont want one to small,to big,to smooth,or to rough. But does have that gentlle lope to it that wont shake the tach out of the dash.

Of the choices you mentioned, I like the Comp270H. I had that cam in an identical engine in a 1972 Chevy truck long bed and it ran real good. Had a moderate lope when the engine was cold and it smoothed out just enough when it warmed up. There was a subtle sound of lope. The big truck ran some 14.20's with 3.73 gears. The cam pulled strong to 5500 rpm. I have also run the comp 280H and it is considerably rougher at idle than the 270H.
