can anyone help me identify this ford tranny
can anyone help me identify this ford auto trans. Its bolted to the back of a 351c I found on craigslist. The girl selling it says that her father built it several years ago for a project he was working on but got sick and never completed the project. He recently passed away and she has no use for it. I'm not much of a ford guy and am having a little trouble fguring out what it is. There is a large "23"cast into the top of the bellhousing. Sorry about the crummy pics, but it was dark and I was in a hurry.

whats a decent price for a c6 core. I want the motor and trans but have no way of knowing whts in them unless I remove the pan and valve covers from the engine. The 351c was built and never cranked, I think it has the 4v heads, but other than that I'm clueless as far as internals go. It was built 8 years ago and has been sitting ever since, same deal with the tansmission. I figure I'm buying a core, anything extra is a plus. The only thing the motor lacks is a carb and its ready to go.

she's way high I think, $2000 for the engine and trans. I'm thinking half of that is closer to reality.

Tell her to furnish receipts if she wants $2000. If not start at $1000 and and work from there.
It really depends on how bad you want the stuff.

If its a 4 v headed engine on a 351c there will be the number 4 cast in the corners of the heads topside near the intake. Look at the top front corners.
