Hey guys

Not sure if you can help me but i trust y'all so I put this question out there.

So I'm into mini trucks. When I built my 86 Ranger I didn't think I would be bagging it. It has a stroked and poked 302 putting out just over 300 horses and about 315 ft lb of torque.

I don't want that motor in my Ranger when I bag it as I am worried it will twist my bags out and wreck my step notch. So I was thinkin...

Anybody know if it is possible to put my V8 in an 85 - 90 Mazda B2200? I am thinking that would be a damn quick ride and definetly one of a kind. Can it be done...anyone have a B2200 that they could take some measurements of the engine bay and tranny tunnel to save me a trip to the junk yard?

Are the Mazda and the Ranger the same truck..I think some years were..As far as your concerns about the bags I am sure if properly installed they will work just fine..

I agree if installed properly it should work fine, Just make sure when ordering you bags that you ask them about the weight differance, But we all know it can be done because it already has just think about it. look at all these bagged V8 cars and trucks. Just let them know what you are working with. As far as the mazda thing goes it's true several years they was same as the rangers. JMO. Cole

1994- current Mazda's are the same as Rangers but the pre 1993 Mazda's are closer related to the Courier, which also take V8's quite nice... as for bagged V8 rangers.. there out there

I know bags can take a V8...its also the fact that to bag my Ranger and body drop it I don't think the V8 will clear my hood (i already cut the guts out of under the hood) or my inner fenders. Even if I made custom inner fenders I don't think it will fit. I was thinking of a turbo 2.3 to fit in the Ranger.

I also think that a B2200 with a 300 horse V8 would fly...I think the pickup weighs less than a Civic.

If it can be done I think I am going to do it.........HOORAY NEW PROJECT!

Honestly, i would suggest heading over to S10forum.com or StreetSource.com. Now granted, S10forum sounds like its only for S10s, BUT, there is a huge wealth of information on there about airride. This isn't about whether or not a bagged and body dropped Ranger can take a healthy V8 (even though my original post made it seem like that was the problem)...I know it can. Its about cash, its about taking the V8 down the track, and its about having my Ranger a show piece when its done.

if im not mistaken, you can probably section your eng crossmember. Ive seen it done for minis to be able to fit big motors under the hood...

And YES, im damn sure that you can stuff a V8 into the Mazda. Ive seen it done many times, and a friend of mine a few blocks away had one, and it was bagged!

SO, do you have any specific questions on what you need to know?

And again, i know this is a rod forum, but i know Street Source.com had specific threads about the Mazdas and V8.

Please do not get me wrong and think im trying to steer you away from this forum, because thats not the case at all. I just know that if you search the forums on StreetSource, you will get a ton of answers.

Yeah I'm sure I could get the motor to sit a at least an inch and a half lower but I don't really want to cut up the frame that much.

I don't feel driven away at all don't worry about that. I have done tons of research on bagging my Ranger I even have the front radius mounts and tranny crossmembers installed.

I was only looking for measurements of a Mazda beleive it or not hahaha. But I went to the junk yard and found one without a motor that I got all my measurements out of...too bad they wouldn't sell me the shell (stupid Ontario registration laws).

I wasn't mad or anything...I just felt the thread was getting off topic. My bad.
