can flatheads be mounted to engine stand by bell housing bolts?

any reason a 49 flathead can't be mounted to a conventional engine stand by using the bell housing bolt holes? thks bob

theres no reason you cant. i put my '50 flathead on my engine stand by the bellhousing bolts. Hope this helps!

Heck, my 59A flathead has been on an engine stand for years waiting for me to use it for something other than a hat rack, and that's the half-bellhousing early style engine. Your 8BA could live on a stand forever, I imagine.

Flathead engine stands

You might find it easier to work on if you make up a mounting plate that bolts in place of the exhaust manifold, using all the bolts. Works good for me, and you can get to the flywheel and clutch while it's on the stand.
