Welcome to the site, I alway's liked the top loader, But some of the side loaders are pretty good also. Guess it would depend on exactly which trans you are talking about.

Yea, you can put one in. I don't know what it would take to do it, but it can be done. I know that McLeod makes an adapter bellhousing to bolt a Ford top loader to the Chevy engines, but I don't know about the Chrysler engines. I've got a top loader with a Hurst inline shifter that I was going to put in my Camaro years ago, but never got around to doing it. I already have the bellhousing modified to fit, but I guess I just lost interest.

Long shifter (and bring $$$), but you'll hate driving any of 'em around town..

Mcleod or Quicktime should be able to fix ya up but why are you stuck on a toploader ford?
just curious...

myself, i'd use an mopar 4 speed (not the OD ones) or aftermarket.
sell the top loader to the ford guys

from an engineering standpoint, the toploader is the best factory 4spd. However its 7/8th inch countershaft and lack of quality replacement parts makes it the weak link between a 9" and your basic 600hp engine.

Jamie Passon is the easiest to find 833 guy. Depending on your combo, you might want to source an 833-OD.
