Can I Spray Clear Coat Over Clear Coat ???

I was recently painting a fender and got a run in the clear coat on one corner so I didn't spray any more clear coat. Would I be able to simply sand the run out and re-clear? Or, will the run still be visible under the new clear coat? THANKS FOR ANY HELP.

Sand the run out being very careful not to sand through the base coat. Once that's accomplished scuff the entire panel and re-clear. As long as you're using the same brand of paint you won't have a problem.

Clear coat is very forgiving. You could have finished spraying the clear without doing anything to the run, then just wet sand it flat and buff. Since you stopped spraying the clear you must now scuff the entire panel to finish applying the clear.

Use a piece of a paint stirring stick cut as wide as your run. Wrap a couple of layers of 1000 grit wet/dry paper around it. Using water, wet sand the run with the stick, watching very closely. When you start to see the area around the run getting scuffed by your sanding, you have gone far enough.
