Can I update my old shaved doors??

Ok here is the deal- I am redoing my 64 Falcon, and I have a set of old ( like 25 year old) solenoids that operate my shaved doors. They are operated by buttons inside and outside the car- my question can I update this set-up to hard wire in some type of "brain(?)" that I can bypass the buttons and use a remote like the modern SPAL type shaved door kits? and if so what type of "brain?"or shall I just replace the whole deal- my old solenoids still work btw- Thanks in advance-

You can wire in just about any type of remote lock system and use that to open the doors on the unlock button press........ The question is..... are your current solenoids wired with a 12v always hot to the solenoids completes the circuit to ground through your switch or is the solenoid grounded and your switch provides pos 12V when pressed. You can wire in the remote in either case but many remotes use a negative pulse when the button is pressed.

like eod says, most alarms systems use a neg output
this is how i wired my door solinoids using a galaxy alarm remote and 2 relays.
you need the relays with any remote.
i used an aftermarket window switch because it matched my window switches
you can use any spdt spring centered switch or 2 different push button switches
like your existing push buttons
