Can I use a Autolight 4100 to replace a Motorcraft 4300 carb.....

A question for some Ford experts, can I replace the Motorcraft 4300 four barrel carb on my 77 Ford 460 with a Autolight 4100 four barrel carb. Both carbs are rated at 600 cfm. The 460 is out of a 77 Lincoln Mark V and will reside in my 78 F250 four speed manual trans Camper Special pickup. I have heard the Motorcraft 4300 is a fire trap waiting to happen, plus it is in need of a rebuild. I also have a Autolight 4100 four barrel carb for manual trans car or truck, but it too needs rebuilt. Will the Autolight 4100 work on my 460 or will it not?????

If the engine is from a LINC, the carb is a 4350 spreadbore. The 4100 carb will work but not on the present EGR spacer. You will need a TRANS-DAPT PN 2199 adaptor or try to find a pre-EGR intake (pre-1973) with a squarebore carb pad (you might even find a used EDELBROCK cheap).

BTW- The 4350 is junk. It and the earlier 4300A and 4300D were designed by ROCHESTER for FORD.
