for a 427 tall deck, bought the intake thinking i was going to use the oval port heads i had for it but found out they were junk. Bought the heads which are square port and i cant find a square port intake, i want to use the edelbrock perfromer air-gap do they make 1 for square port?

P.s I am going to go with a 2 plane intake.

A mismatch is a mismatch. How would gaskets work??? I suppose if the port on the manifold didn't run abrubt into anywhere on the head , if it fit 'inside' the head's port, it would 'work'. I'm not saying it would work good, but it might. Sort of an anti reversion intake deal. IMHO I see problems.

Yes, theEDL-7562

Quote:
RPM Air-Gap 2-O and 2-R: 7561 is designed for 396-502 c.i.d. Chevy V8s with large
oval-port cylinder heads (1975 and earlier). Air-Gap designs separate the runners from
the hot engine oil resulting in a cooler, denser charge for more power. Features rear
water outlets, two distributor clamp locations, and nitrous bosses. No provisions for
exhaust heated chokes or exhaust crossover. 7562 is similar to 7561, but is designed
to fit high performance rectangular-port cylinder heads. Will not fit oval port heads
.

Yes... (answer to your question above)

Also yes the oval port intake will work on the rectangle port heads but NOT the other way... But I would not alter (port) the intake to match the heads mainly because the design of the runner is for the oval port and you would have to remove so much material up inside the intake to make it worth doing... Yes they do make a rectangle port intake in that model but not for the tall deck but of course adapters will fix the issue... Also is a better choice for sure...

Thanks so much for the help, if i would of known the rect and square were the same it would have been no problem. I ordered the oval port from jegs, never toruched it so ill just send it back and get the rect. one for $2.00 more. Yeh i got the spacers for the tall deck, the reason i dont want to buy a tall deck intake is if ever down the road this motor blows or something i can take intake and put on reg bb instead of trying to find a buyer. Thanks again
