Can I use a trans cooler only without a radiator cooler?

I am installing a automatic trans in my car that has no provisions for a cooler in the radiator. I'm using an aftermarket GRIFFEN radiator, no trans cooler. My concern is that if I use just a cooler in front of, or even behind the radiator that in the winter time the trans fluid will be to cold and not ever warm up. I did see that there is one trans cooler company that claims it has build in bypass until the fluid warms up, but it looks like the inlet & output nipples have to be facing up which would make a funning looking installation job. If anyone can shed some light on my dilemma please do so.

Thanks Jeff

I use these, from Perma Cool, Remote Mount Oil Cooler Thermostats.
See part PRM-1070 or PRM-1060 at http://www.summitracing.com/
They let the oil/fluid circulate a little on start up and open fully when oil/fluid has reached operating temp. avoiding themal shock.
Call for your application as I couldīnt find trans specific item.

Thanks malc; I did see that type of cooler without the fan on another web sight, but I wasn't sure if it would work properly in all positions or only with it's inlet and outlet facing up. I think I'll try to give them a call. Jeff

The picture I posted is of thermostats not coolers. The thermostats are installed in the lines going to and from the trans cooler.
In the pic you can see the thermostat behind the trans filter.
The trans cooler is the smaller.
