is there some type of inverter or converter that will allow my stock 68 firebird hood tack to operate with an MSD ignition system?? i currently have an on the column tach but the stock tach supposedly only will work with the stock harness and ignition. ive already tried running it straight from the coil and tapping into the ignition wiring with no luck...

I have burnt out 1 crane and 3 msd 6 boxes trying to run a stock 3 wire tach in a Vette. I even tried the MSD tach adapter. The box lasted longer but eventually fried. I am now trying the MSD HEI. It has dual tach connections.

According to MSD, For GM vehicles one of two types of adapters are necessary to make it play with MSD ignitions..you will have to go there and select the right one for your application..

I personally (My opinion) Do not like MSD .. for the benefits they offer over HEI and others..they are also more trouble and require "Special Items" to make it play right..compared to HEI..Seems like every 10 posts or so are "Can't get MSD to spark, " or "Can't get Tach to play with MSD"

For Street rod applications I will always go GM HEI over MSD any day...They perform well for the app, and you can buy a module at the local NAPA store without having to mortgage your first born..and wait for ship....Just MY personal opinion..
