Can my pitman arm come out and play?

So I removed the my pitman arm and I notice the tapered stud (that connects to the center link), has *some* play in it. Not much play, but I am sure it will be amplified once it is all assembled. I see what looks like to be some plastic bushings in there. I assume these are the wear points. Is any amount of play here acceptable?

I also notice The stud freely rotates, which makes me think that trying to install the nut on there is going to be impossible. Is this normal?

This is from an '81 Chevy C-10 truck. Now that I know what I know, I should have checked for play before removing the pitman. DOH!
