Can someone give me a rough Dyno estimate?

I just purchased an 85 silverado just wondering a rough estimate for horsepower as best a guess as someone can give me i will give you all the info i have also any suggestions for my truck would be appreciated. heres the specs 350, unknown pistons, heads 882's stock from what ive been told, 280 comp cam magnum im guessing from what the previous owner told me he didnt remember edelbrock performer rpm intake and edelbrock 600 cfm carb he says the gears are 392's i dont have the truck to look at right now because i am deployed to iraq and i got a good deal through one of my wifes friends any suggestion would be appreciated

... with no headers and stock compression you're probably not making more than 250-300. A 9.5 motor with decent exhaust would probalby make 350.

oops my bad i left out the long tube headers and flowmasters

oh, those are pretty good heads, I would say not less than 325, maybe even 350, again, depending on CR.

How much more power would i get if i switched to a 750 CFM carb or is that overkill?

moderator please move this post to engines

It won't be overkill but I doubt you will notice any gain with the carb change.

how much horsepower is too much for the stock bottom end?

badknuckles 06-03-2004 11:02 AM

when the rods start knocking.

500-600 HP, not more than 5500-6000. R's are more what kills it, the rods stretch and break.
