can u put hei Distributor on ls1 & vortec engine

like the older chevy to put carb on it .. what would i need to do this other than intake & carb . ..... stuff i can buy off ebay ...THANKS

can u just change the intake and drop in the older hei in it or is the more to do? thanks

you need a vortec specific intake, then any hei will drop in.
you can also add one to an ls series engine. you will need a different timing cover built for doing that, a bolt on gear for the front of the cam, and then they run a ford distrib up front like a ford.
a nice option for the ls is a kit you can buy that includes an edelbrock carb intake and an msd controller that picks up off the stock cam and crank sensors, and fires the stock coil packs. pretty reasonably priced for what you get.
