Scrap is by weight.

Around here you obtain car and good title. To get best price. Remove aluminum wheels, radiator, battery, cat converter.. These are worth more and are sold seperately. Deliver car to scrapper. It is weighed and title checked. Around here thumbprint and waiver signed. Then weigh radiator, aluminum wheels. Battery core is around $8.00, Convertor $50.00-150.00. Some places pay cash. Some pay with Debit card.

no title problems

Around here it you don't have a title, they photocopy your drivers Lic, pay less than scrap, hold the car for DMV, sherriff dept for 15 days, then crush it, If you cut it up in pieces, and dump it a piece at a time like a body shop gets rid of scrap , fuel cost and time aren't worth the effort.
