My mate from hokitika here has been a few times, mainly for the hunting and a bit of gold mining. They even found the odd mammoths tusk while digging to retrieve gold.

If you flew from the U.K. you didīnt pass over the Rockies.
Iīve done the trip from the U.K. to Edmonton many times and we went over the North Pole.
From Madrid Spain to Toronto itīs straight across the water.

If you want to check out a VERY cool waterfall experience ...
Devil's swimming pool at Victoria Falls Zimbabwe

The idea of it thrills me, but having the "stones" to actually jump in and/or stand on the edge like this fool? Yikes.

maybe a map?

The Rocky Mountain chain runs parallel to the Pacific coast . If you are coming to Vancouver from anywhere east of here and don't go around the world to the east, you will definately fly over the Rockies. They really begin just west of Calgary and continue (with a few valleys in between) all the way to the coast. Ther are a few different ranges but they are all considered the Rockies. All this info from a man who lives in one of the flattest places on earth.
